Kauai’s North Shore communities need a health and recreation center.
The center will be a place where our keiki can engage in amateur athletics, and everyone can participate in affordable health and wellness programs. The Kauai North Shore Community Foundation provides the platform to make this a reality through charitable giving and community participation.
A feasibility study for the North Shore health and recreation center was completed by Ballard King & Associates. The study concluded that the North Shore demographics can support a multi-use community health, fitness, wellness, sport and aquatic center. There is a very physically active permanent, visiting, and seasonal population on the North Shore, which places a very high value on health and wellness, so the facility would be self-sustaining.
Members of the Health & Wellness Committee are meeting with existing fitness and wellness providers to determine the viability of offering access to the North Shore community. The Committee is also identifying, contacting and meeting with landowners to potentially secure land on which to build the Health & Recreation Center.
